Methodology
What it can't tell you
Every AI detector on the market has the same limits. Most don't mention them. Ours, up front:
- It's an estimate, not proof. The score is a statistical judgement about how the text is written, not a record of who wrote it. There is no such record to check.
- Human writing gets flagged. False positives are real and they land hardest on non-native English and formulaic prose. That is why you get a confidence and not a verdict.
- Edited AI text scores lower. Text rewritten to evade detection often reads as human to every tool, including this one.
- We can't name a model. Nothing here claims a specific tool wrote your text, because nothing can substantiate that claim.
- Don't use it alone for decisions that hurt someone. Not for academic discipline, hiring, or denying service on the score by itself.

Straight answers
How accurate is it?
Accurate enough to be useful, not accurate enough to convict anyone, and nobody who quotes you a single accuracy number is being straight. Independent testing puts every detector's real-world accuracy well below its marketing, and near zero on text deliberately rewritten to evade detection. That is why we show a confidence score you can weigh rather than a verdict you cannot check.
Why won't it just say "this is AI"?
Because that sentence would sometimes be false about a real person's own writing, and we would have no way of knowing when. False positives run at a few percent at best and they fall hardest on non-native English. A number you can judge is honest; a verdict we cannot stand behind is not.
Can you tell me which AI wrote it?
No, and neither can anyone else. Detectors measure how text is written, not where it came from. There is no record to look up. Any tool naming a specific model is guessing.
What happens to the text I paste?
It goes to our detection provider to produce your score, and it is deleted automatically within 24 hours, or 30 days if you bought the report, so you can return to it. We never train on it, never sell it, and never put it in a URL. See Privacy.
